Meet Gruffie Clough

Leadership and Organizational Consultant

Hi. If you know me, you know “Gruffie” is a nickname and there’s a great story behind this name. If you don’t know me, I hope I get the opportunity to tell you this story.

I’m fortunate to get to do work I love. While my work takes many forms, it all centers around working with leaders and teams to increase the impact of their work, as well as the level of engagement and joy that goes along with this.

At times my work involves designing and delivering leadership programs. You might find me conducting capacity and skill building trainings, facilitating challenging discussions and meetings, or working right alongside a leader or team members, serving as a consulting partner and colleague.

I’VE HAD THE HONOR AND JOY OF PARTICIPATING IN MANY AMAZING PROJECTS!

Some of my favorites include:

LEADING TOGETHER (Telo Kanyakla) – A 12-month leadership program for emerging rural Kenyan leaders. This project focused on developing staff capabilities to address upcoming changes in transitioning services and programs to better align with their organization’s mission. Additionally, we sought to achieve higher standards of services to local communities.
COCA COLA, Venturing and Emerging Brands division – Designing and facilitating a leadership program for entrepreneurs. We’re preparing for our 4th class now.
WARNERMEDIA (formerly Turner Broadcasting) – Reimagining their Learning & Development portfolio including the design, development and delivery of nine new modules (webinars & face-to-face) for their People Leader series, their nomination-based global senior leader programs, and a set of all-access offerings for employees.
GENERAL MOTORS – Executive Business coach and trainer for Go Fast!, a global organizational change initiative to streamline and simplify existing work processes to gain speed and agility.
WORLD VISION – Designing interactive breakout sessions for a 350-person meeting, selecting and coaching presenters.
WORLD TEAM SPORTS – Team dynamic coach for an around-the-world cycling event for differently-abled and able-bodied athletes.
COLORADO OUTWARD BOUND, INC. – Leading challenging leadership wilderness expeditions that include Mt. Kilimanjaro climbs and trips to Italy’s Brenta Region in the Dolomites.
Co-founder and project director of a 30 year, community-based health and community development center on the shores of Lake Victor in Kenya.

Amidst the challenges and complexities of these types of projects, I’m invigorated! I have the skills and wisdom to make a valuable contribution and the light-heartedness to enjoy the journey. I hope I have the opportunity to work with you.

My Approach to Work and Play

Integrity and transparency in my work are paramount to me. When we engage in a working agreement, I will be 100% focused on your needs, open to your ideas, and will go the distance working readily and thoughtfully to help you reach your desired outcomes.

I’m an avid adventurer — I’ve traveled to hundreds of countries for work and for recreation.

I love being physically active: running, cycling, hiking, climbing, sea kayaking and yoga. Some of my favorite adventures have included climbing all of Colorado’s 14,000 foot peaks, hiking the 486 mile Colorado trail, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro 13 times and cycling from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and from Irkutsk, Siberia to Ulaanbarter, Mongolia.

Clearly, I love a good challenge!
